Summary Description
Instruct classes at SBVC Extended Police Academy or SBCSD Basic Academy in accordance with established curriculum, Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, and course outlines.
Special Skills/Education/Experience
Five years' experience as a police officer, deputy sheriff, highway patrol officer or other equivalent law enforcement position. Experience may be substituted by B.A. degree.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have worked in a law enforcement position for at least five years or completed a B.A. degree with related experience (law enforcement experience related to the academy). Applicants must be eligible to obtain Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Academy Instructor Course Certificate (AICC).
Position requires sensitivity in understanding the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.
Desired Qualifications
Previously attended the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Evaluator class.
Prior instructor experience in an academy or college setting.
