Job Description

Position Summary :
This position will be responsible for retention efforts by helping students navigate our college resources in order to complete their education goal. Serves as liaisons, providing intensive one-on-one support to our districts' disproportionately impacted student populations including, but not limited to first-generation, low-income students, and other students that also may benefit from this support. The Program Assistant that will serve as a "completion coach" for students to increase persistence and progress toward degree / certificate or transfer.
The following generally describes the knowledge and ability required to enter the job and / or be learned within a short period of time in order to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Representative Duties :
- Develop, manage and facilitate a student contact and call-out program to assist with college transition and to provide support throughout the semester.
- Participates in planning, organizing, and coordinating assigned program activities; implements procedures to ensure efficient day-to-day operations of assigned area.
- Closely monitor and consistently communicating with student caseloads.
- Interprets and explains program applications, policies, procedures, requirements, and restrictions.
- Develop, monitor and facilitate a degree completion intervention process to alert students to the graduation process.
- Act as an informed referral source by accompanying students to various resources as needed.
- Deliver developed workshops / presentations on topics to include study skills, college and career planning, financial aid processes, scholarship searches, test preparation, and motivation assessments
- Serves as liaisons, providing intensive one-on-one support to our districts' disproportionately impacted student populations including, but not limited to first-generation, low-income students, and other students that also may benefit from this support.
- Assist students in identifying effective problem-solving skills, self-advocacy approaches, decision-making and personal responsibility.
- Disseminate information on programs and services to students.
- Refer students to department counselors and provide students with deadlines, program requirements, registration, and other important dates.
- Identify and strategize around challenges before they become roadblocks.
- Other duties as assigned.
