The State Preschool Intern operates under the supervision of a State Preschool Teacher to provide care, instruction, and supervision of children in a County-operated State Preschool program under the direct supervision of a fully qualified staff member (State Preschool Teacher and/or Associate). The State Preschool Intern also assists in the preparation and collaboration and presentation of activity plans and assists in record-keeping. The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools office acts as an intermediate service agency between the California Department of Education and the 33 school districts in San Bernardino County to help meet the educational needs of all children county-wide. We are committed to working with our school districts, other agencies, families and the community at large by providing services, information and leadership, always with a focus on students. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Supports the teacher in the instruction of children;
• Supports in the presentation of activity plans;
• Supports in creation and maintenance of a safe and stimulating student environment;
• Supports in supervising children in play and developmentally age-appropriate activities;
• Assists in the preparation of records and reports;
• Participates in collecting evidence for student assessment;
Desired Results Developmental Profile – Revised (DRDP-R) data and/or data entry;
• Maintains positive and professional working relationships with support staff, parents,
and the community;
• Attends meetings as applicable;
• Reads SBCSS emails regularly to receive pertinent information;
• Performs related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working with preschoolers or infants/toddlers (paid or volunteer), including caring for one’s
own children, volunteering in a classroom setting, babysitting, or other childcare, and/or supervising
child activities (this experience must be shown on your application and/or attachments);
• Possession of a valid California Child Development Assistant Permit – OR –
completion in an ROP Childcare Occupations or similar ROP program – OR –
six (6) units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development (CD).
