Description

SUMMARY

Skills Trainers - Bilingual will provide skills training to program youth directly related to the goals of the youth's treatment plan; Skills Trainers - Bilingual will act as the youth’s advocate, mentor, and behavior coach, and attend wrap meetings for coordination of care. Average caseload is 10– 12 youth, many of whom will have families who are monolingual Spanish speaking. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides rehabilitation services to youth in the home, school, and community focusing on specific skill deficit areas including, independent living skills, emotion regulation, social skills and coping skills.
  • Helps develop formal/informal support networks for youth/families in the communities in which they reside.
  • Participate in wraparound team meetings.
  • Triage crisis situations with team members, including doing basic risk assessments, safety planning, and connecting to resources to maintain safety in the home, school, and community.
  • Acts as a positive role model for youth and promotes greater youth participation and voice at the practice, program, and policy levels of the System of Care.
  • Documents all clinical work per Medi-Cal requirements and SDCC policies and procedures.
  • Maintains clear, effective, and open communication between multi-disciplinary clinical staff and administrative personnel within and between SDCC programs.

Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
  • 2 years experience working with youth and families, Juvenile Justice, Child Welfare, or Regional Center services
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to manage a calendar and work cohesively on a team
  • Bilingual in Spanish

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Child Development, Sociology, Psychology, or Criminal Justice
  • Work experience in a wraparound program 
  • Work experience as an advocate or trainer 
  • Work experience documenting in an Electronic Health Record
