Hourly Compensation: $21.46 - $25.56 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY
Settled in the award-winning San Diego Convention Center (SDCCC), the Exhibitor Services Representative identifies customer needs, analyzes data, sells and promotes additional services to enhance their event experience while providing top tier service.
This is a part-time, event driven position.
- Shifts range from 6am-9pm, most common being 6am - 3pm
- Scheduled shifts range from zero up to six shifts per week
- Schedules are produced a month in advanced
- 10 hour shifts will be necessary for city wide events
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Engages with exhibitors to identify their needs, analyzes performance data and offers customized solutions to enhance their event experience and ensure sales goals are exceeded.
- Addresses, responds and tracks sales and customer inquiries/concerns and reports to Exhibitor Services Manager.
Resolves complaints and takes initiative to identify problems and deliver recommendations and solutions. - Generates reports, analyzes data and compares event history to establish sales goals.
- Prioritizes customer satisfaction and delivers exceptional service through on-site interactions, phone calls, and email, including orders and refunds.
- Collaborates with clients, contractors and internal staff to coordinate cleaning for exhibitor booths.
- Ensures financial transactions are processed accurately and according to all regulations including Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance and resolves any discrepancies.
- Walks the exhibit floor(s) to ensure delivery of customer support and customer adherence to SDCCC policies.
- Initiates conversations and provides policy reminders for those in violation of the building’s cleaning policies.
- Conducts audits for ancillary services.
- Collaborates with food and beverage partner to ensure cleaning services are processed.
- Manages and dispatches orders strategically.
- Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least three (3) years of customer service and sales experience in the hospitality, sports facility, concert venue, or convention industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and understand basic instructions, correspondence and memos is essential. Additionally, the ability to effectively communicate information in one on one and small group settings with customers, clients, and colleagues is crucial. Proficient writing skills, including proper grammar, punctuation, and adherence to business professional standards, are necessary for all written communications.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Data entry must be thorough with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. . Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to perform multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize responsibilities and work assignments. Ability to maintain confidentiality and a high level of business ethics.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to remain in an office at a computer workstation and access information from a computer. Constantly operates a telephone and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to move files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the Facility Services department, as well as maneuver throughout the Convention Center facility to meet with exhibitors, attend meetings, events and other functions. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Offices for this division are located within the Facility Services area on the mezzanine level of the Convention Center. Assigned work for this position may be located on different show floors which include lobby areas, front driveway, escalators, exhibit halls, mezzanine level, and upper-level meeting rooms, freight elevators, or passenger elevators. Requires the performance of assigned duties in, around, and among large crowds of people. The noise level in the office environment is usually moderate with noises originating from persons talking within the office and office equipment being operated. Frequent interaction with employees, clients, and visitors via email, telephone and/or face-to-face. May be exposed to exhaust fumes and airborne particles. With the approval of the Exhibitor Services Supervisor may be asked to work flexible hours to be on-site for a scheduled event, or work overtime on occasions when required to meet business needs.
