Adoption Counselor

San Diego Humane Society is hiring a full-time Adoption Counselor for our Oceanside Campus!

What you’ll do:

• Actively promote adoptions and encourage adopters to take advantage of our risk-free “Adoption Guarantee”
• Learn about the personalities and traits of the adoptable pets in our care in order to promote their great qualities to prospective adopters
• Provide exceptional daily care, cleaning, enrichment, and training of the animals to keep them healthy, happy, and ready to enter into a new home
• Assist at off-site adoption locations and events ensuring their success in reaching adoption goals, sales goals, and promotion of the organization
• Cross-train in Guest Relations, including licensing, fielding guest questions in-person and over the phone, processing payments through QuickBooks and Shelter Buddy, admitting strays, and assisting with reclaims
• Participate in our Culture of Philanthropy by educating guests on our lifesaving programs and inspiring them to donate at the time of adoption

What we’re looking for:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• One (1) year paid experience in the field of customer service required.
• Prior experience working with animals in a kennel, shelter or veterinary hospital preferred.

Location & Hours: Based at our Oceanside Campus. This position works a 4/10 Alternative Work Schedule.

Pay: Starting range is between $18.25 and $20.53 per hour and is eligible for an hourly bilingual-Spanish premium. The hourly rate is determined by your related education and experience.
