GENERAL PURPOSE
Keeps Mission facilities in a clean, orderly and functioning condition. Installs, maintains and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and plumbing and electrical systems. Performs preventive maintenance task on a regular basis
Performs skilled preventative maintenance and repairs on plumbing, mechanical, electrical, lighting, structural maintenance; may perform minor maintenance and repair to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, and boilers at assigned locations.
EXPECTATIONS
Performs facility safety inspections and walk-throughs; establishes and adhere to routine general maintenance project schedules; estimates costs for repairs, modifications, or additions and makes recommendations to supervisor; writes up work orders. SDRM empowers our technicians to conduct research in order to execute duties with excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned.
- Implementing and maintaining routine general preventative maintenance plans
- Determines scope of work for routine general maintenance and repairs
- Operates assigned equipment; reports need for major repair to supervisor.
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment
- Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Layout, assembles, installs and maintains pipe systems and related equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
- Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
- Installs, programs or repairs automated machinery and equipment.
- Sets up and operates various machine tools
QUALIFICATIONS

The Mission assumes that the incumbent will serve as an advocate for the Mission, will support and defend our Mission Statement, Statement of Faith and Mission Values, and has a genuine desire to serve the Lord in the ministry of 'rescue'
Education: Minimum high school diploma.
Experience:
· Minimum 3 years full-time work experience in Construction/Building or related field. Nonprofit experience preferred.
· General facility maintenance operations and repairs.
· Commercial use of facilities, heating, ventilation, and air condition systems; mechanical, boiler maintenance and operations, compressors, plumbing, electrical systems, and pumps.
· Preparing and maintaining accurate records and files.
· Basic sheetrock, plumbing, electrical repair work, and painting.
· Safety regulations, standards, guidelines, and practices regarding assigned equipment and duties.
· Current office practices, procedures, and equipment including personal computers and related software.
Skills and Abilities: General, hands-on computer experience with basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook); typing (min 35 wpm); coordinate and/or direct a variety of complex tasks and assignments simultaneously and successfully; exercise good judgment and make sensible decisions; attentive to detail; prioritize effectively; effective oral and written communication skills; eagerness to learn and be trained; work both independently and as part of a team; provide information to public by answering questions and requests; timely attendance.
Special License/Certification: Plumbing Certification
Travel/Transportation: The incumbent must travel on a regular (or periodic) basis, as the job requires. The incumbent must have reliable transportation (public transportation may be acceptable depending on the purpose of travel). If the incumbent receives authorization to use a Mission vehicle to perform duties, he or she must present a current California driver's license and good driving record in order to be placed on the Mission's insurance policy.
Uniforms: The incumbent is expected to wear a Mission uniform daily. The Mission will provide the uniform at no cost to the incumbent. However, some uniforms must be laundered at the incumbent's expense.
All uniforms must be maintained in a presentable condition.
MANAGERIAL ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY
The incumbent has no supervision of paid staff. This position has no supervisory requirements but may from time to time require a lead role over a project.
ENVIRONMENT
The incumbent spends some time off-site at various Mission locations. In general, the incumbent reports to a non-confined location in which he or she is free to move about at will. All locations include annoyances such as clutter, noise, odors, drafts, etc.
The incumbent works in a department that is regularly assigned Job Training students who may have a mental or physical disability or illness.
The incumbent generally works in a residential setting, which consists of individuals who may have a mental or physical disability or illness.
Physical resources may be limited and, in some cases, are donated.
