WHAT OUR TEAM DOES WITHIN THE ACADEMY
Child Welfare Development Services (CWDS) provides workforce development, organizational support, technical assistance and capacity building for the public child welfare staff of Southern California counties. These services include coaching, simulation, classroom training, eLearning and evaluation services. Workforce development services consist of development opportunities for new social workers, the existing workforce, supervisors, managers and executive level leadership as well as community partners and multi-disciplinary partners working closely with child welfare agencies.
Responsibilities
YOUR ROLE IN REVOLUTIONIZING THE WAY PEOPLE WORK
- The CRS Consultant is responsible for overseeing workforce development services including culturally responsive practice, needs assessments, service planning and delivery, and capacity building.
THE WORK YOU WILL DO
You will be responsible for:
Modeling culturally responsive practice to provide exceptional services to learners, service providers, and stakeholders; by understanding your role, what others need to be successful, and the impact you have in creating learning experiences.
Project management of CRS deliverables including modeling culturally responsive practice to engage partner organizations and ensure smooth delivery of services.
Using Implementation Science to assess organizational readiness, and support implementation of culturally responsive practice at all levels of our partner organizations, thereby positively impacting the communities they serve.
Maintaining a current understanding of regional and state initiatives related to health and human services, and representing the culturally responsive practice perspective in the development of best practices for our partner organizations.
Collaborating with CRS team members and Academy partners to develop learning experiences that are innovative, impactful, and have measurable transfer of learning.
HOW WE ACCOMPLISH OUR WORK
Note: some duties may include working with and/or exposure to sensitive/traumatic topics or material dealing with child abuse, abuse against older adults and adults with disabilities, and/or issues and scenarios related to mental health, substance use, or racism.
The Academy is a project of the San Diego State University Research Foundation, which is grant-funded and serves as an auxiliary to the University. The Academy is based near, but not on campus, and does not have direct responsibilities for working with or teaching college students.
The Academy is currently working to update employee classifications. This position may be subject to a future classification change, however, this does not change the role, responsibilities, or compensation of the position.
THE SKILLS NEEDED
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of cultural responsiveness
- Knowledgeable of current learning and development and adult learning theories
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage, monitor and assess multiple projects and priorities
- Proven skill maintaining harmonious relations with colleagues, organizing project leaders, troubleshooting knowledge of program/project specific policies
- Ability to independently interpret a wide variety of complex policies and procedures integral to the program/project to which the position is assigned
- Ability to work individually and engage within a teaming environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills such as political acumen and active listening
- Ability to travel within California - primarily Southern region counties and Sacramento
Minimum Qualifications

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in appropriate field related to the program/project

Additional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis. - Six (6) years of experience related to the program/project.

Three (3) years of experience providing coaching or training.
(A masters' degree may be substituted for years of experience, up to two years)
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE THAT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU HAVE
- Master's degree in Health and Human Services field
- Three years of previous experience relating to program/project management
- One year of experience leading or coordinating a program within the Health & Human Services or Behavioral Health fields and/or supervising employees
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and current workforce development trends
- Strong project management skills
