POSITION SUMMARY:
The RN hybrid role (Surgery and Post Anesthesia Care) reports to the RN Manager of the OR. This unique position offers the opportunity to work in both the operating room and PACU settings, providing direct care to patients during critical stages of their surgical and recovery processes.
The RN Hybrid will be required to perform nursing duties in the PACU, Pre-Op/Holding and/or the Endoscopy areas as needed to meet adequate staffing throughout the surgical services department. Need is determined by the RN Manager of the OR or director on a daily basis and adjustments are made to meet the case load demand.
The RN Hybrid provides care for patients undergoing surgical and invasive procedures. This encompasses patient care from the initial pre-op interview, patient education, day of procedure preparations as well as the post procedure care and monitoring needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
- Graduate from a school of nursing with a degree
- BSN/MSN preferred.
Licensure:
- Current active California Registered Nursing License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required.
- CNOR certification preferred.
- CPAN certification preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of one-year Operating room experience.
- PACU/pre-op experience preferred.
- ICU/ED experience a plus
Other Skills:
- The RN must have a thorough knowledge of surgical and endoscopic procedures to provide safe intra-operative/intra-procedural care.
- The ideal candidate will have strong clinical knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Demonstrates an attitude of co-operation and professionalism.
- Superb verbal and written communication skills to share updates with patients and other medical staff.
- Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Excellent customer service skills to provide ongoing support for patients and their families.
- Able to work in, manage and deal with stressful situations.
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of Perioperative nursing.
- Speak, read and write English to safely and effectively perform patient care services.
