BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Director of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation and/or Transportation Supervisor, operate a school bus over designated routes in transporting regular and special education students to and from school, activities and events; provide safe and efficient transportation for District students.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Bus Operator I class operates a school bus over a designated route. The Bus Operator II incumbents are proficient in all types of school bus vehicles, provide safety classes for students and are more involved in parent pay issues.
Minimum Qualification:
Under the direction of the Director of Transportation or designee, operate a school bus over designated routes in transporting regular and special education students to and from school, activities, and events; provide safe and efficient transportation for District students.
Licenses and Other Requirements: Valid California Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B Driver’s License with required endorsements (PS) and restriction (29). Valid California Special Driver’s Certificate (DL-45). Valid First Aid (if required by CHP), Medical Certificate (DL-51A), and Medical Examination Report (DL-51).
Incumbents are subject to a pre-employment drug test and mandatory random drug and alcohol testing during employment as required by Federal Law. Even if you do not possess all of the required certifications, please apply; TRAINING PROVIDED AT NO COST.
