Purpose of the Job
Provides individual and group counseling and therapeutic intervention pursuant to the requirements of the Arizona Department of Licensure, Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, and RCBH stated goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts biopsychosocial assessments and required paperwork for new intakes
- Gathers and assesses information about; the relationship of the client’s physical status and their problem, the nature of emotional compulsion to use drugs and alcohol; the intensity of the client’s mental preoccupation.
- Interprets information about the client’s problem and develop a summary.
- Makes appropriate determination of the level and nature of treatment.
- Investigates client eligibility for funded services and, if indicated, refer to proper agency within mandated timeframes
- Assesses client needs and overall situation in order to make proper referrals
- Evaluates level of pathology and possible need for hospitalization or psychiatric services and makes appropriate referrals
- Assesses client’s stability, current drug use or non-use, history of substance abuse, current stresses and needs, support system available, current behaviors that assist in maintaining client’s problem and alternatives available to the client.
- Provides client orientation to the program and facilitates access to all services provided at RCBH
- Develops and implements the treatment plan in conjunction with the treatment team, client and other client representatives based on the client’s problems and needs. Assures initial treatment plan is initiated with 7 days of admission and updates are conducted at least quarterly
- Provides counseling to clients in a manner that considers safety, client rights, comfort and a therapeutic environment
- Accurately observes and documents counseling visits and occurrences within 24 hours of contact. Reports client encounter data to Program Director monthly.
- Provides community resource material to clients and other staff members and assist clients in obtaining services as indicated
- Accurately observes and documents any behaviors that warrant an incident report or probation
- Documents counseling progress notes following each appointment or relevant contact within 24 hours of contact and maintains monthly records on assigned clients
- Communicates with and educates other interested parties as needed with proper releases of information such as but not limited to: employer, family members, parole/probation officer, psychiatrist, primary care physician
- Participates in peer review process by auditing charts for completeness
- Attends staff meetings, clinical supervision meetings, and assigned trainings
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Employee will be exposed to highly confidential client information as well as confidential agency information. Employee will protect and maintain the confidentiality of client records and information and proprietary information of the company.
- Employee will adhere to and enforces policies, procedures, and guidelines relative to clinic operations.
- Employee will recognize, prevent, and respond to a situation in which a client: may be a danger to self or others, behaves in an aggressive or destructive manner, may be experiencing a crisis situation, or may be experiencing a medical emergency.
- Employee will have sensitivity and knowledge to meet the needs of substance abuse clients.
- Employee will participate in specific activities for the promotion of self-growth or the enhancement of professional image by attending continuing education/other job related training
- Employee will complete RCBH training as required by policy
- Employee will meet work attendance requirements by being present during client service hours
- Meets attendance requirements for staff meetings
Qualifications:
- Associates degree, high school diploma or GED.
- Certification by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners
- Two years’ experience in the provision of behavioral health services
- This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling more than 100 pounds, and requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, and typing.
- Good visual and auditory acuity as well as good manual dexterity and the ability to be readily understood are essential.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and be able to respond to emergencies.
- May be exposed to biohazards and chemicals per Safety policies including hazardous waste and infection control.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.85 - $13.86 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
