Job Summary: The Hotel Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the hotel’s operations during the night shift. This includes auditing financial transactions, assisting with guest check-ins and check-outs, providing customer service, and preparing the hotel for the next business day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Night Auditing: Review and reconcile the day’s transactions, including checking the accuracy of room charges, payments, and other charges (e.g., restaurant or spa services) to ensure they match guest folios.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare daily financial reports, including revenue, occupancy, and daily totals, ensuring that all financial data is accurate for management review.
- Guest Check-ins/Check-outs: Assist late-arriving guests with check-in procedures, ensure accurate guest information is recorded, and process check-outs for guests leaving early or during the night shift.
- Handling Payments: Process payments for guests staying overnight, including cash, credit card, or room charge transactions, ensuring all payments are recorded accurately.
- Customer Service: Address any guest inquiries, complaints, or special requests during the night shift, providing solutions to enhance guest satisfaction.
- System Updates: Update the hotel’s PEP (PMS) to ensure all guest details are current and accurate for the following day.
- Security and Safety: Monitor the security of the hotel during the night shift by ensuring the safety and well-being of guests, conducting periodic checks of the property, and responding to emergency situations if needed.
- Back Office Support: Assist in preparing reports, updating records, and supporting hotel management with administrative tasks related to accounting, bookings, and guest information.
- Communication: Communicate any issues or discrepancies from the night shift to the morning team to ensure a smooth transition and resolve any outstanding matters.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure the front desk area is neat and organized and maintain an orderly work environment throughout the shift.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately review and reconcile financial transactions and ensure the proper documentation of all transactions.
- Accounting or Finance Knowledge: Understanding of basic accounting principles and familiarity with hotel accounting software or PEP (PMS).
- Customer Service Skills: Ability to handle guest inquiries, complaints, and requests in a professional and efficient manner.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to resolve discrepancies, address guest concerns, and troubleshoot issues independently during overnight hours.
- Multitasking: Ability to handle multiple tasks, such as auditing, checking in guests, and responding to emergencies, simultaneously.
- Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with hotel management software, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and general office software.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to relay information accurately and professionally to guests and the next shift.
- Professionalism: Maintain a polished and professional demeanor when interacting with guests and colleagues.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
- Previous experience in hotel front desk operations is highly preferred but not required.
- Experience with hotel property management software is an advantage.
Work Environment:
- Typically works in the front desk area or an office during overnight shifts.
- May involve extended periods of sitting or standing, along with light physical activity (e.g., walking the premises for security checks).
- Work hours are usually late-night to early-morning shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands:
