What are the responsibilities and job description for the AP Accountant position at Sand Companies Inc?
JOB SUMMARY: The Accounts Payable Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate maintenance of accounts payable activity, including processing mail, invoices, checks, credit cards, and maintaining accounts payable filing. This role is repetitive in nature for most tasks during the day and week. Deviations from this would include special projects, filing, and year end duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Code, verify and seek appropriate approval on rental invoices.
- Enter pre-coded hotel invoices.
- Code, verify and seek appropriate approval on corporate and corporate entity invoices.
- Set up new vendors in Yardi, M3 and Sage.
- Verify vendor statements and perform necessary follow up.
- Follow up on ALL questions/problem invoices.
- Field all phone calls regarding payables.
- Pull all necessary back up and process daily check runs as requested.
- Sort daily mail/emails/faxes.
- Maintain the accounting group email throughout the day.
- Collect receipts and back up as turned in by card holders.
- Enter credit cards transaction into Sage.
- Make timely payments to AMEX.
- Maintain bill back support files and other miscellaneous audit support files.
- Request W-9’s for new vendors and maintain files.
- Maintain accounts payable filing.
- All other miscellaneous projects/duties as requested.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Accounting principles – Must have considerable knowledge of basic accounting functions.
- Independent – Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision.
- Accuracy – Ability to work under pressure in meeting deadlines and produce quality work with minimal errors
- Computer – Ability to use computer hardware and software including, but not limited to Microsoft Office. Sage, Yardi and/or M3 experience a plus.
- Organization – Proactively prioritize needs and effectively manage resources and time.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or G.E.D
Prefer a Associates Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience
2 years of general accounting experience
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Pass a drug and background check.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
Position requires minimal travel and a valid Class D license.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS ANALYSIS:
The AP Accountant works primarily indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. This position requires long periods of sitting and computer use, frequent verbal, and written communication, and listening skills.
