JOB SUMMARY:
The Property Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate maintenance of daily financial activity, cash management, general ledger activity and drafting monthly financial statements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create and prepare financial statements by the appropriate due date each month.
- Create MHFA, Rural Development reports, and other agency reports required.
- Prepare month-end journal entries.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare monthly management fee.
- Review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Perform weekly check runs, manage cash, and prepare cash projections as needed.
- Maintain bank accounts, timely and accurately along with reconciling monthly bank accounts.
- Assist in preparing and monitoring annual budgets.
- Maintain fixed asset addition and disposal schedules.
- Assist with annual audits as conducted by outside CPA firm.
- Assist with year-end CRP and 1099 Preparations.
- Review daily sales transactions.
- Prepare and pay sales, city, lodging, real estate, and other miscellaneous taxes timely and accurately.
- Cross-train and fill in for other Associates during turnover, vacation, illness, or other time away from the office.
- Complete Special projects at the request of the Accounting Supervisors and others, as required.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Must have considerable knowledge of accounting functions.
- Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision.
- Accuracy – Ability to work under pressure in meeting deadlines and produce quality work with minimal errors.
- Professional communication skills – verbal and written.
- Computer skills – Ability to use computer hardware and software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office. Sage, Yardi and/or M3 experience a plus.
- Organization – Proactively prioritize needs and effectively manage resources and time.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Associate degree in accounting.
Prefer a bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
2-3 years of general accounting experience.

Pass a drug and background check.

Salary : $58,700 - $76,900
