Job Summary:
The Back of House Manager at Bayside Café is responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, maintaining safety and sanitation standards, and leading a high-performing kitchen team. This role requires strong leadership, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding culinary experiences.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to maintain efficiency and high-quality food production.
- Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are met according to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain kitchen inventory, order supplies, and manage food costs effectively.
- Train, mentor, and develop back-of-house team members to uphold high culinary standards.
- Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless operations and guest satisfaction.
- Oversee equipment maintenance and cleanliness of the kitchen.
- Manage scheduling, payroll, and performance evaluations for kitchen staff.
- Implement and enforce resort policies and procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree or related certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a kitchen leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a fast-paced kitchen environment and work under pressure.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain food safety certifications as required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8-10 hours per shift).
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping required.
- Comfortable working in high-temperature kitchen environments.
