SANDUSKY CITY SCHOOLS Administrative Personnel JOB DESCRIPTION Title: School Psychologist Qualifications: 1. A master's degree 2. A valid certificate to practice as a school psychologist Reports to: Director of Student Services Job Goal: To maximize the school educational experience of all students through adherence to the 10 domains of practice for a school psychologist; according to NASP standards: Data-Based Decision Making and Accountability, Consultation and Collaboration, Interventions and Instructional Support to Develop Academic Skills, Interventions and Mental Health Services to Develop Social and Life Skills, School-Wide Practices to Promote Learning, Family-School Collaboration Services, Diversity in Development and Learning, Research and Program Evaluation, Legal, Ethical, and Professional Practice. Conferences with building personnel. 2. Assists in data collection 3. Assists in data analysis 4. Collaborates with school personnel to develop and implement researched-based educational and mental health programs and interventions based on presenting data. B. Completes Evaluation Team Reports 1. Completes evaluations in accordance with federal and state guidelines 2. Responsible for collecting all data for the evaluation 3. Assesses all areas as required by the plan determined by the IEP team. 4. Completes evaluations according to timelines dictated by IDEIA and Ohio Operating Standards 5. Assists in the interpretation of results during ETR meetings. C. Demonstrates Proficiency In Assessments 1. Demonstrates proficiency in ability assessments. 2. Demonstrates proficiency in academic achievement assessments. 3. Demonstrates proficiency in screening procedures. 4. Demonstrates proficiency in visual-motor assessments. 5. Demonstrates proficiency in criterion-referenced assessments. 6. Demonstrates proficiency in curriculum-based measures. 7. Demonstrates proficiency in functional behavior assessments. D. Recognizes Individual Differences in Selection of Assessments 1. Maintains a repertoire of assessment instruments. 2. Selects instruments based on student needs. 3. Completes additional assessments when necessary. E. Exhibits Consistency and Fairness 1. Demonstrates standardization of assessment administration in accordance to assessment protocol. 2. Scores and interprets results appropriately. F. Collects and/or Interprets Data within a Response to Intervention Model 1. Reviews and interprets other assessment data. 2. Collaborates with building teams in the collection and interpretation of data. 3. Collects and interprets data from classroom observations. G. Prepares Reports 1. Prepares descriptive reports which are concise. 2. Prepares reports which are easily understood. 3. Provides implementation strategies for recommendations. H. Provides Recommendations 1. Prepares recommendations for noted deficits while building on the individual’s strengths. 2. Prepares recommendations which are implementable. 3. Provides implementation strategies for recommendations. IV. Consulting, Conferencing, and Counseling Skills A. Participates In Conferences 1. Explains evaluation results to parents. 2. Explains evaluation results to teachers. 3. Establishes appropriate working relationships. 4. Attends and/or facilitates IEP conferences on request. 5. Explanation of information is done in such a way that all team members understand the necessary information B. Consults With Teachers 1. Assists teachers in implementing Course(s) of Study. 2. Assists teachers with organizational skills. 3. Assists teachers with behavior management plans. 4. Assists teachers in implementing recommendations. 5. Assists teachers in securing professional growth opportunities. 6. Assists teachers in research of appropriate intervention strategies 7. Assists teachers when analyzing data. 8. Assists teachers with the development of assessments. C. Consults With Other Agencies 1. Works with Children's Services. 2. Works with Juvenile Court. 3. Works with other agencies. D. Demonstrates Counseling Skills 1. Demonstrates ability to counsel parents. 2. Demonstrates ability to counsel students; both individual and group counseling. 3. Refers persons with needed to appropriate agencies. E. Participates as a change agent 1. Attends district level meetings and advocates for students with researched-based information. 2. Interprets data provided at the student-level, classroom-level, building-level, district-level, and community-level. 3. Utilizes building and district policies to aide in change. V. Case Management A. Maintains Appropriate Records 1. Maintains records for all evaluated students. 2. Collects appropriate documents prior to evaluation. B. Coordinates Services To Buildings 1. Provides comparable services to all buildings. 2. Visits all assigned buildings on regular basis. 3. Visits with intervention specialists on a regular basis. C. Prioritizes Evaluations 1. Provides appropriate evaluations based on severity of each case. 2. Maintains manageable case loads. 3. Maintains deadlines based on both state requirements and district procedures E. Manages Time Effectively 1. Completes evaluation in a timely manner. 2. Completes reports in a timely manner. 3. Communicates results to parents in timely manner. 4. Communicates results to teacher in timely manner. 5. Returns phone calls, emails, mail, and other forms of communication in a timely manner. VI. Other Such additional duties and responsibilities as collaboratively determined between the administrator, individual staff member, and subsequently assigned by the administrator. VII.
