The Planning and Procurement Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning and procurement processes to ensure the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. This role involves coordinating with various departments to forecast demand, manage inventory levels, and develop procurement strategies that align with organizational goals. The Planning and Procurement Supervisor ensures compliance with company policies and industry regulations, negotiates contracts and maintains strong supplier relationships. The Planning and Procurement Supervisor supports the organization’s operational efficiency and financial performance by analyzing market trends and optimizing supply chain operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Keep abreast of upcoming market changes by working closely with Sales and analyzing forecasts on a rolling 15-month basis.
- Oversee purchasing functions to provide material availability that aligns with the production schedule.
- Understand material constraints and drive cross-functional troubleshooting solutions.
- Understand production capacity and schedule rigs to stay within capacity constraints.
- Oversee the creation of a working bill of material (BOM) for every rig going through production.
- Facilitate meetings with Sales and Design & Development to review open rig BOM issues and track progress.
- Analyze rig specification changes, providing the details of items impacted for optimal flow through production.
- Analyze parts usage and establish ABC coding (updated quarterly minimum) to drive inventory cycle counting and to support Purchasing to maximize part availability while minimizing inventory value on hand.
- Regularly (minimum quarterly) evaluate safety stocks and, working closely with Purchasing, adjust levels based on foreseeable demand.
- Manage cross-functional OSMI meetings to find solutions to reduce non-moving inventory.
- Manage processes for Planning & Procurement.
- Manage & review the efficiency of Production Planner & Purchasing Supervisor roles.
- Gather data at rig closing & lead discussions regarding opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with report development and system enhancements to improve efficiencies within Planning and Procurement.
- Conduct recruitment, selection, development, and promotion of employees for these work areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10 years in a manufacturing environment in planning, purchasing, production, and/or engineering
- 2 years’ experience coaching, developing, leading, or managing employees

Computer Skills:
- MS Office knowledge – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- ERP knowledge – LEAN, Lean MES
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or another related field is required.
