STARTING SALARY: $13.50 - $20.34/hour
STATUS: Seasonal (non-benefitted, 6 months or less)
DEPARTMENT: Alta Canyon Sports Center – Parks and Recreation
SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Alta Canyon Lifeguard Supervisor, work to promote a safe environment for all patrons of the pool area.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must be 15 years or older and possess knowledge of swimming techniques. Current certification required in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Lifeguard Training. Must successfully complete oral, written, and practical water exams. Responsibility for materials, equipment, tools, etc. Great responsibility for the safety and wellbeing and safety of patrons and staff using the aquatic facility. Must have ability to react responsibly in an emergency situation. Good verbal and written communication skills, proper English usage, spelling and vocabulary. Contacts requiring tact and judgment to avoid friction and to handle complaints; frequent contacts involving the carrying out of programs and schedules requiring the influencing of others to obtain desired result; outside contact with public presenting; ability to communicate effectively with all age groups; ability to enforce pool regulation in a firm manner while maintaining good public relations. Use of specialized equipment related to the assigned activity/sport. Regular use of cover reels, lap lane reels, wrenches, and other various tools. Regular use of power washers and pool vacuums. Supervisor may limit equipment operation based on Department of Labor age restrictions. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
