SCOPE: The Project Manager at Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) oversees the complete project lifecycle of complex construction initiatives within the airport's operational environment, managing concurrent projects that range up to $1M. Core responsibilities include coordinating architects, engineers, contractors, and airport stakeholders, managing vendor relationships, and maintaining project timelines in accordance with airport operations. Working extensively within active terminal and airside facilities, they minimize disruption to passenger flow, airline operations, and tenant activities while implementing construction and renovation projects. They maintain oversight of project documentation, manage change orders, and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery while adhering to the Sanford Airport Authority's established parameters and strategic objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Develops and manages project plans, schedules, and budgets for airport construction and renovation projects
- Creates detailed scope of work documents and work breakdown structures
- Establishes project milestones and deliverables aligned with airport operations
- Coordinates with stakeholders to identify project requirements and constraints
- Reviews construction documents for compliance with airport standards
- Coordinates construction activities with Airport Operations to minimize impact on daily activities
- Manages construction phasing to maintain airport security and safety protocols
- Coordinates with airlines, tenants, and ground handlers regarding project impacts
- Oversees implementation of temporary facilities and wayfinding during construction
- Reviews and processes contractor payment applications
- Conducts regular site inspections to monitor construction progress
- Ensures quality control and compliance with project specifications
- Coordinates with design teams on construction-related issues
- Serves as primary point of contact for construction-related matters
- Conducts project meetings with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders
- Coordinates with regulatory agencies and local authorities
- Maintains comprehensive project files and documentation
- Ensures proper close-out of completed projects
- Manages project warranties and as-built documentation
- Coordinates with airport maintenance on system turnover
- Updates airport asset management systems with project information
- Maintains airport construction standards and specifications
- Participates in airport emergency response activities when required

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

SKILLS:
- Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.
- Knowledge of technical drafting practices and techniques and Ability to draft using AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of legal statutes and ordinances pertaining to engineering and public works projects.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to the design, construction, and maintenance of vertical and horizontal projects.

Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or related field (required)
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain airport driving privileges
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Experience:
Minimum 7-10 years of progressive construction project management experience
Demonstrated experience managing projects
Experience working in operational facilities or active construction environments
Proven track record of successful project delivery
Experience working with federal and state-funded projects
Experience with public sector or government construction projects
Security Requirements:
- Must pass TSA background check
