What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Officer position at Sanford Behavioral Health?

We are looking for a passionate person interested in helping others during their recovery to join our expanding team in Marne, MI.
Role and Responsibilities
- Monitors and analyzes CCTV.
- Conducts interior and exterior checks of property to ensure there are no safety hazards or issues.
- Monitors and responds to various alarms and acts appropriately.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- De-escalates any incidents that may occur.
- Documents any incidents that occur and makes sure they are brought to supervisor’s attention.
- Interacts with clients and staff professionally and with discretion.
- Assists with facilities maintenance, able to lift 75 lbs.
- Escorts clients to any of the Grand Rapids facilities.
- Adheres to all HIPAA regulations, requirements, and guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- Valid driver’s license with no restrictions, required.
- CPR/1st Aid/AED certification, required or willing to complete.
- Criminal background check, required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, organizational skills, critical thinking, and good decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
- Knowledge of substance use disorder; mental health illnesses and the recovery modality is preferred.
- Law Enforcement/first responder experience preferred.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality on all client records and business-related records, as required under HIPAA guidelines.
