About the Role
As a Founding Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s future while taking ownership of their core robotics product. You’ll lead the design, development, and optimization of cutting-edge visual navigation systems for drones and autonomous aerial vehicles, ensuring their performance, scalability, and reliability. This is a highly impactful role, perfect for someone who thrives on solving complex problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the development and optimization of visual navigation systems for large fleets of drones.
- Design, test, and implement embedded software focused on vision-based robotics, ensuring solutions meet SWAP (Size, Weight, and Power) and performance requirements.
- Make key decisions on system architecture, balancing execution risk, lead time, and cost for scalable, reliable outcomes.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to ensure hardware components meet performance standards.
- Oversee fleet management strategies, drive QA processes for large deployments, and proactively address issues in the field.
What We’re Looking For-
Experience:
- 4 years in embedded hardware engineering, with at least 2 years focused on systems involving cameras and Visual Inertial Odometry (VIO).
- Proven experience designing and implementing embedded SLAM architectures or VIO systems for commercial products.
- Experience working with drones or other autonomous aerial vehicles.
- 4-6 years of experience with visual robotics sensing, particularly with systems that involve cameras.
Skills:
- Expertise in visual robotics sensing, with a strong understanding of embedded hardware and software.
- Ability to design scalable systems and optimize for SWAP constraints.
- Hands-on experience in startups or early-stage environments, building products from the ground up.
