What are the responsibilities and job description for the Endoscopy Technician II position at Sansum Clinic?
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Endoscopy Technician II is responsible for assisting physician during endoscopy procedures. This position requires specialized education and works with the Centers leadership team, staff, and physicians to develop, implement, and deliver specialized technical care to paitents under the direct supervision of the RN Supervisor in accordance with the mission, vision and values of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBLITIES: (This list may not include all of the responsibilities assigned.)
- Assist the physician during endoscopy procedures, including moving patient abdomen to assist provider colon navigation during procedures.
- Must thoroughly understand and follow established scope cleaning policy and procedure.
- Coordinate transport and set up of necessary supplies. Ensures that all of the equipment needed for the procedure is properly disinfected and assembled. Checks that the equipment is in working order.
- Ensures a sanitary environment by daily cleaning of all contaminated surfaces in the procedure room using the Sansum Clinic approved disinfectant.
- Execute proper use, infection contraol and handling of endoscopic equipment to ensure safety of all staff and patients.
Requirements
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSURE:
- 2 years of experience as an Endoscop Technician
- Full knowledge of all endoscopic processes and procedures.
- Certification with one of the following agencies preferred but not required; American Association of Medical Assistants (AMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), California Certifying Board of Medical Assistants (CMAA), CNA program or EMT program, although the MA program is preferable.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or dually certified in both AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support and AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
