Position Summary
The Senior Fundraising and Outreach Specialist plays a strategic and essential role in supporting the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO) and the Philanthropy and Outreach (P&O) team. This position is responsible for coordinating and executing fundraising events, campaigns, donor engagement initiatives, and outreach events to achieve the organization’s philanthropic goals. This role requires regular travel between the Santa Barbara and Santa Maria locations to maintain a consistent presence across the county.
Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and execute fundraising strategies for campaigns and events, including galas, thank-you events, and donor outreach initiatives.

Oversee event logistics to ensure successful execution, donor engagement, and post-event follow-up.

Support the Capital Campaign by assisting the Campaign Director with event coordination, donor communications, and logistics.

Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and participants to foster meaningful engagement and stewardship.

Collaborate with the Outreach team to develop event collateral and materials aligned with organizational goals.

Track and help maintain accurate donor data in the CRM system (DonorPerfect) to support donor cultivation and retention efforts.

Lead and manage fundraising event committees, ensuring sponsorship and fundraising goals are met.

Develop and manage marketing strategies and budgets for fundraising campaigns in collaboration with the P&O team.

Cultivate and maintain donor relationships through in-person meetings, virtual communications, and follow-ups.

Collaborate on marketing and outreach materials, including newsletters, appeals, and social media content.
Standard Responsibilities

Provide welcoming, informative, courteous, and non-judgmental customer service; maintain knowledge of Santa Barbara Humane programs and services in order to identify and offer solution-based recommendations and encourage charitable support for the organization.

Practice and promote Fear Free™ animal handling and positive-reinforcement training techniques.

Actively integrate volunteers by providing a welcoming work environment; practicing mentorship and providing training and advancement opportunities.

Follow workplace safety protocols, working in a safe manner at all times and proactively ensure the safety of co-workers, clients, and volunteers by taking immediate action to prevent or address safety concerns.

Keep supervisor apprised of client, staff, volunteer, or animal concerns.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:

3–5 years of experience in fundraising with demonstrated success in meeting fundraising goals.

Proven organizational skills and attention to detail in fast-paced environments.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and CRM software (DonorPerfect preferred).

Strong writing skills for internal and external communications.

Valid CA Driver’s License and insurable driving record.

Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

Experience coordinating donor events and managing volunteers.

Familiarity with tools like Q-Giv, Constant Contact, Slack, and Asana.

Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Prior experience in animal sheltering (paid or volunteer).
Physical Demands & Work Environment

Work performed in a shared office setting with regular use of office equipment.

Frequently moves between sitting and standing positions; occasional lifting of 10–25 pounds.

Regular exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, animal-related odors, and loud noises in shelter areas.

Involves driving across the county in a company vehicle.
