Position Summary : The Community Programs Specialist supports the Education Division with multiple components of educational program design, planning and delivery at the Museum campus and occasional off-site locations. Responsibilities include development and scheduling of community programs on- and off-site, processing payments, creating financial and data reports, and supporting the set-up, breakdown and facilitation of programs.
Specific Responsibilities :
- Plan, schedule, and execute community programs that are mission-aligned.
- Works with Director of Education to create a program portfolio for the science & nature-based learning offered at the Museum and Sea Center. This programming includes on-site exhibit-related, seasonal programs for the general public, and off-site outreach programming. These events could include lectures, films, classes, field trips, and family-focused festivals at both campuses.
- Actively develop and maintain community contacts and relationships to seed new opportunities for Museum outreach and educational programming.
- Support set-up, breakdown and inventory maintenance of all supply and curriculum for community educational programs.
- Act as main contact with community members and other organizations and institutions interested in program development.
- Maintains good interdepartmental connections to ensure that programs complement and reinforce one another and work toward mutual goals.
- Work with Events Manager and Facilities to reserve dedicated spaces at the Museum campus and complete work orders with all requests for any needed program equipment set up.
- Track and analyze program data for use in Museum administration and development reports, as needed. Contributes to grant applications and reports as needed.
- Coordinate with the Marketing Division to update web pages and promotional materials of Museum-based community education programs.
- Participate in and contribute to Education Division and select Museum meetings.
- Contributes to a positive guest experience by greeting and addressing any questions when encountering guests as they navigate through the Museum and Sea Center.
- Supports the Museum's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion for fellow staff, guests and the community.
- May perform other duties as needed.
