Oversees and coordinates all parent, and family service plans, community partnership
agreements and activities for the Head Start Program, including organizing group activities and
committees necessary for parent involvement. Monitor/follow-up on safety measures in and
around the center to ensure the wellbeing of children, parents and staff, through routine safety
assessments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plans and implements the goals, policies, and activities to meet the family and community
partnership objectives in compliance with Head Start strategic plan and performance
standards.
• Assists in updating annual parent involvement and family service plan in coordination with
the Policy Council, parents, and staff.
• Recruits for enrollment through home visit, enrollment fairs, and collaboration with
providers.
• Ensures confidential maintenance of all participant files.
• Facilitates Parent involvement in program planning and evaluation of program activities, and
encourages decision-making responsibilities and participation in the classroom.
• Provides training and mentoring to Head Start/Early Head Start Staff, in compliance with the
family/community partnership goals.
• Maintains and updates the community resource/parent handbook directory annually.
• Communicates regularly with teachers regarding any issues, concerns, and information about
children.
• Coordinates and conducts home visits with parents regarding incidents, absences, and other
pertinent behavior.
• Initiates individual family partnership agreements with parents to identify and continually
assess services and resources that are responsive to each family's interests and goals.
• Maintains tracking system to ensure services are provided efficiently and effectively.
• Gives presentations to families and community regarding Family Services goals, objectives,
activities, and results.
• Generates, submits, and reports to Director regarding: family/children; concerns;
accomplishments; progress; and other pertinent information.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending seminars, educational
workshops, classes and conferences.
• Attends parent meetings and assists parents as needed.
• Regularly inspects and evaluates the physical condition of building and playground to
ensure the classrooms and kitchen/dining area have adequate lighting, free from
deficiencies. That exit signs and smoke detectors are in adequate working condition.
• Works with Special Projects/Emergency Department in scheduling monthly Fire Drills.
Responsible for maintaining fire extinguishers annually.
• Responsible for PDI (pest control) log and inventory listing/safety check of any hazard
material used at center ( for cleaning purposes or otherwise)
• Conducts GFCI checks in classrooms, kitchen and laboratories on a monthly basis.
• Responsible for documenting unsafe conditions/monthly reports to Program Director.
• Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
• Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Demonstrates understanding of Head Start philosophy;
Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers;
Familiarity with community resources;
Experience organizing and managing multiple responsibilities under pressure and
documenting extensive information;
Experience in the use of computer data base and/or word processing;
Knowledge of the challenges and strengthens of low-income and Native American
families;
Knowledge of Tribal and department policies and procedures;
Knowledge of tribal, federal, and state laws and regulations related in the area of
projects;
• Knowledge of Head Start/Early Head Start philosophy, standards and the ability to
implement is principle of shared authority and decision-making;
• Knowledge of time-management and the effect on one's well-being and stress level;
• Knowledge of the steps to effective conflict resolution;
• Knowledge in problem solving techniques;
• Knowledge in project evaluation procedures and processes;
• Skill in strong leadership, supervisory, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for
restricting priorities to meet changing goals or objectives;
• Skills in writing letters and reports and filling forms for routine operations;
• Skill in collecting, grouping, organizing information;
• Skill in building group consensus to meet objectives through give and take;
• Ability to develop new insights into situations in order to improve the situation,
increase efficiencies, or to mitigate safety problems;
• Ability to function as an effective team member to interact and communicate effectively
with staff and tribal leadership and able to recognize changing conditions, develop
alternative strategies and take appropriate action;
• Ability to be decisive in leadership roles and use sound reasoning to arrive at a
conclusion/decision and to recognize and correct unsafe practices and conditions;
• Ability of effective listening, speaking, and writing skills;
• Ability to perform computer skills such as word processing, software applications,
email, internet and spreadsheets;
• Ability to perform duties under stressful and adverse conditions, such as long work
hours and emergency situations; and
• Ability to develop and recommend reporting systems for monitoring grant and contract
development status.

Minimum Qualifications:
• AA/Bachelor's Degree public health, health/safety education and/or 3 years of work
experience and/or early childhood;
• Must be 21 years old and have completed at least 18 credit hours of course work and
training;
• Meet any criteria requirements set forth by the funding source;
• Must obtain a First Aid/CPR and Food Handlers certification with the initial probation
period;
• Must have a current valid New Mexico Driver's License and be insurable through the
Tribe's insurance carrier;
• Must not have any DUI/DWI convictions within the last five (5) years from any Tribal,
State or Federal Court;
• Must pass a background check successfully; and
• Must pass a drug/alcohol screening.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; talk; or
hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or
feel to reach with hands or arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/ or move up to
10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth
perception and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is minimal.
