Job Summary

We are seeking dynamic Banquet Staff members who are willing to work in various areas, including Events, Banquet Set-up, and Kitchen Prep. As a Banquet and Event Staff, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of conferences, corporate gatherings, fast-paced picnics, and other special occasions. Your exceptional serving skills, professionalism, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment will contribute to creating memorable experiences for our guests. One year of banquet or serving experience is strongly preferred, along with experience in event setup, food prep, and industrial cleaning tasks. You must be willing to work in multiple areas of expertise and provide the highest level of guest service.

Guest Service: Welcome and greet guests with a positive attitude, answering their questions and contributing to an overall memory-making experience. With the intention of exceeding guests' expectations every shift.

Event Setup: Set up buffets, beverage stations, and tables, ensuring they are organized and visually appealing.

Attention to Detail: Follow instructions carefully and demonstrate a keen eye for detail, ensuring tasks are performed accurately.

Time Management: Manage time effectively to complete cleaning and maintenance tasks within designated timeframes. Prioritize tasks based on urgency and work efficiently to meet deadlines.

Adaptability: Be adaptable and willing to assist in various tasks as they may change due to the demands of the event. This may include dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and other general cleaning duties

Event Cleanup: Assist in cleaning up event areas, including dining tables, buffet stations, and other areas, to ensure cleanliness and orderliness. This may involve tasks such as clearing tables, removing trash, wiping surfaces, and restocking supplies.

Food and Beverage Preparation: Assisting in preparing food and beverages, ensuring quality and adherence to established standards.

Requirements

Experience: Strongly prefer at least one year of banquet or serving experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Experience in banquets, serving, event setup, food prep, and industrial cleaning tasks is highly advantageous.

Serving Skills: Possess exceptional serving skills, including knowledge of proper food and beverage service etiquette, tray service, and wine service. Familiarity with various dining styles is desirable.

Professionalism: Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, maintaining a neat and well-groomed appearance. Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry trays or heavy items, and navigate crowded event spaces.

Adaptability: Thrive in a fast-paced environment, remain calm under pressure, and have flexibility with schedules.

Attention to Detail: Exhibit keen attention to detail and ensuring accuracy in setting up events. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in assigned work areas.

Enthusiasm: Interact with guests and provide excellent customer service.

Work Schedule: Ability to work varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Uniform: Wear the correct company-issued uniform for the scheduled shift.

Grooming and Hygiene: Conform to company grooming and food safety hygiene requirements.

Age Requirements: Must be at least 18 years or older and can work past 2 a.m., as needed.

CA Food Handler Card: Obtain within 30 days of hire (assistance provided).

ABC Certified: Obtain within the first 30 days.

Shifts may range from 5 a.m. to as late as 2 a.m., and flexibility is key. Must be willing to work various shifts and be available on weekends.

Job Tasks

Event Staff: Setting up table settings, buffets, and beverage stations

Event Setup: Assist in the setup and arrangement of banquet rooms, including tables, chairs, linens, and decorations according to event specifications.

Table Service: Provide excellent table service during events, ensuring prompt and courteous delivery of meals, appetizers, beverages, and other requested items.

Table Maintenance: Continuously monitor and maintain clean, organized, and properly set tables throughout the event, clearing dishes and utensils promptly and discreetly.

Guest Satisfaction: Anticipate guest needs, address concerns promptly, and provide personalized service to enhance the overall experience.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other banquet and event staff, including bartenders, kitchen staff, and event coordinators, to ensure seamless service and successful event execution.

Guest Interaction: Greet guests warmly, answer their questions, and consistently provide friendly and helpful guest service.

Food Safety: Understand and adhere to all food safety procedures to ensure a safe dining experience for guests.

Alcohol Service: Sell beer and wine in compliance with state laws and company policies.

Menu Knowledge: Acquire knowledge about the food being served to accurately answer guest inquiries.

Cash Handling: Operate the cash register, handle money, and determine correct change following cash handling policies provided by the supervisor and employee guide.

Communication and Coordination: Acknowledge guest count and buffet needs when cooking, inform runners when food orders are ready for service.

Event Cleanup: Clean up the event area and work areas, ensuring cleanliness and orderliness.

Deep Cleaning: Perform thorough cleaning duties at the beginning and/or end of each shift, including dishwashing, stacking chairs, mopping, vacuuming, and other facilities cleanup tasks.

Safety and Sanitation: Maintain compliance with safety and sanitation requirements to provide a clean and safe environment for guests and staff.

Reporting and Communication: Inform the lead team member and/or supervisor of any concerns or issues that may arise during the event.

Additional Duties: Perform any other work assigned by the supervisor to contribute to the smooth operation of the banquet and event services.

Qualifications: Training and Experience

Must excel at providing outstanding Guest Service. Experienced in banquet service preferred.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Ability to consistently provide friendly, helpful, and professional service to employees and guests.

Knowledge and adherence to company policies and procedures, including emergency action plans, food handling protocols, cash handling procedures, uniform policies, alcohol training, safety guidelines, etc.

Capability to follow both verbal and written directions accurately.

Adaptability to different event styles, ranging from formal and casual to intimate and corporate settings.

Strong multitasking skills to efficiently handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining speed, accuracy, and efficiency.

Knowledge of proper lifting and back safety procedures and techniques.

Willingness to learn and operate a cash register, accurately handle transactions, and provide correct change.

Ability to stay focused on the job while attending to the needs of multiple guests.

Strong teamwork skills, including the ability to anticipate the needs of peers and guests.

Effective handling of difficult customer service situations, involving supervisors when necessary.

Clear and concise communication skills.

Ability to obtain a CA Food Handler card within 30 days of hire.

Ability to complete ABC training within 30 days of the job if serving alcohol.
