JOB SUMMARY:
The Network Architect is responsible for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing of network infrastructure and end device connectivity. This includes network monitoring and performing regular diagnostics to ensure stability. The Network Architect also plans, coordinates, and implements network security, PCI compliance and other data security requirements in collaboration with the Database Administrator. Responsible for virus protection strategies, vpn security, and firewall rules. This position also provides general e-mail, file server and telephone support. Additional responsibilities include disaster recovery and prevention planning, network diagrams and technical documentation, end-user training and help desk support.

JOB TASKS (IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):
- Troubleshoot problems reported by users and by technology systems analysts.
- Ensure network integrity, performance management and tuning.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement network security policies and best practices up to and including physical port access.
- Maintain internet access including firewalls, DNS, security, IP routing, HTTP, VPN, e-mail routing, SPAM, etc.
- Design, set up and configure complex switching environments including vlan schemes, trunking and IP address
- Maintain current network device inventory and configuration backups.
- Design and maintain network facilities (MPOE, MDF, IDF's), including diagrams, documentation, labeling, and up keep of
- Network equipment installation and repairs.
- Fiber and ethernet cable and connector installations and repairs.
- Educate company users on PCI regulations when necessary.
- Provide clear and thorough documentation of system configuration and support details.
- Analyze and sustain network bandwidth optimization and performance requirements.
- Perform preventative maintenance on network equipment including environmental care and firmware upgrades.
- Managing assigned projects and department components to deliver services in accordance with company objectives.
- Assist Technical Services team working on any system required for successful operations.
- Attend seminars, conferences, trainings and staff meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of LAN and WAN network design best practices.
- Knowledge of current industry tools and best practices for network administration.
- Knowledge of current network security and PCI regulation compliance.
- Advanced knowledge of Windows, Linux, and OSX operating systems.
- Ability to anticipate network capacity and bandwidth needs of the company and to make/implement recommendations.
- Ability to keep abreast of changes in network design access, and security.
- Ability to plan, coordinate and implement information security and compliance.
- Ability to install software, firmware, and hardware upgrades.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to prepare accurate, clear and concise reports.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
