EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Plans, implements, administer, and evaluate programs that provide services to the public.Assesses community needs and coordinates resources to enhance existing programs.Write grants to develop new funding sources.Prepares and administers programs budgets, with administrative oversight.Analyzes policies and procedures to improve program efficiency and effectiveness. Supervises assigned personnel, including front line supervisors, program coordinators and/or support staff.Negotiates, administers, and monitors contracts.Ensures adherence to federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations.Maintains working relationships with community agencies and organizations.Monitors budget expenditures.Develops programs to create community awareness of service availability. (Any one position may not perform all duties listed nor is this inclusive of all duties performed.)For Assignment in Senior and Community Relations Division: Provide management and oversight of daily operations of Senior Services transportation and food delivery services.Supervises staff, including front line supervisors, cooks and drivers.Assists in the development and monitoring of the Senior Services budget.Insures adherence to policies, procedures and rules as established by the Area Agency on Aging.Works to diversify funding streams to support Division activities.Works to maximize program delivery efficiencies for Senior Services.Knowledge / Skills Experience in working with at-risk youth and families.Ability to share and obtain required information in a confidential, professional, and efficient manner.Considerable knowledge of community-based services and resources that are available to youth and families.Knowledge of public program planning, development, budgeting, and management, community needs and resources, grant development and administration, principles and practices of effective supervision, principles and practices of providing social services to culturally diverse populations, software applications commonly used in program management, and federal, state, and local funding sources. Skill in analyzing programs and services and structuring new programs and improvements.Ability to interpret complex federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines, address the public and professional groups, analyze administrative, personnel, and organizational problems and identify appropriate solutions, train and effectively manage staff, perform outreach services, establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public, follow written and verbal instructions, and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in both an office setting and in the field. Some travel is required as necessary; limited out of county travel may be required. May be subject to exposure to CRT’s and VDT’s. Work schedule will include evening, weekend and holiday hours. Conditions of Employment: Selected candidate must submit to and pass a County paid pre-employment physical and drug/alcohol screening. Additionally, selected candidate must submit to and pass a county paid criminal background screening. Selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Class D Driver’s License as incumbent shall be appointed to drive a County vehicle during the performance of his/her duties.
