We are looking for a full-time VA Services Coordinator to join our team at our Gallup offices. We offer a competitive salary range from $39,998 - $49,920 (BOE) and the Benefits shown below. Summary:

The Veteran's Services Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing specialized services for veterans and military-involved individuals as a component of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC) model. Activities include coordinating services with the VA and other providers, implementing outreach programs, developing and leading support services for veterans, and organizing and facilitating community meetings within the CCBHC. This role focuses on providing individual and group peer support activities tailored to veterans' unique needs, ensuring access to comprehensive behavioral health services. The coordinator will serve as a key liaison between veterans, community partners, and the CCBHC to enhance the overall well-being of veterans.
 

Duties and Responsibilities of the VA Services Coordinator: (Included but not limited to)

You'll report to the CCBHC Director and:

  • Serves as the principle veterans’ and Armed Forces advocate and content expert.
  • Serves as lead official and liaison between Department of Veterans Affairs and the CCBHC to ensure compliance with VA regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the CCBHC to integrate veterans' services into the broader behavioral health care framework.
  • Develop and lead individual and group peer support activities tailored to the specific needs of veterans and/or their families, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with local veterans’ and armed forces organizations in McKinley County including tribal programs, the local VHA facilities and Armed Forces. Conducts outreach for purposes of recruitment and veteran benefits awareness.
  • Coordinate and participate in community events and programs as a representative of the organization to promote the agency's programs. Identify opportunities in the community to promote the agency.
  • Ensure that all services provided are culturally competent, trauma-informed, and responsive to the unique needs of veterans.
  • Represent SFRC at community events and assist with outreach presentations and efforts to community partners and donors
  • Coordinate outreach, advocacy, and education activities for relevant issues in the veteran community.
  • Supports veterans in maintaining a healthy life.
  • Maintain a calendar and ensures participation in community events to maintain relationships and facilitate access to services. Collaborates with team members to ensure SFRC is appropriately represented at events.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data related to veterans' services, contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Research, and collect data and information on events, donors, and venues.
  • Assist with special events and capital campaigns as identified by the Board and leadership.
  • Provide input on the development of policies and procedures related to veterans' services within the CCBHC model.
  • Assist veterans in enrollment for VHA benefits. 
  • Other duties as assigned by CCBHC Director.

Requirements


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  1. Experience in event planning and management, in the healthcare sector/military preferred.
  2. Demonstrated exceptional networking skills.
  3. Demonstrated strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  4. Must possess effective presentation and communication skills; the ability to present information in a clear and concise manner.
  5. Highly motivated with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility and the ability to converse with all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
  6. Structured, organized, and proactive; ability to review, investigate, implement corrective action, and follow through as appropriate.
  7. Advanced MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills are required.
  8. Excellent analytical skills?? problem differentiation skills, and a solution orientation that focuses on problem resolution for the long-term sustainability of the agency.

Education and Experience:

  1. Armed Forces Veteran
  2. Certified Peer Support Worker (CPSW) or the ability to secure CPSW within six months of employment.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field is preferred.
  4. Experience working with veterans in a supportive or outreach capacity is preferred.
  5. Experience with peer support programs, especially those focused on veterans, is highly desirable.
  6. Must have and maintain a current, valid NM driver's license. Must also have and maintain a clean driving record as well as auto insurance.
  7. Must be over 21 years of age
  8. Have or ability to obtain and maintain a State of New Mexico Criminal Records Clearance (DOH CRC).
  9. Bi-lingual/Bi-cultural preferred (English/Navajo/Hispanic/Zuni).
  10. Maintain CPR and First Aid certification cards on file.
