What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Clerk position at Santa Maria Tax Service?
We are currently seeking a Payroll & Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk to manage payroll processing, compliance, and A/P & A/R for one of our trucking company clients. The right candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and has a solid understanding of payroll procedures and accounting principles.
This role involves working closely with our team and our clients to ensure timely, accurate financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule for trucking industry clients
- Ensure payroll compliance with federal/provincial regulations (e.g., CRA remittances, WSIB, etc.)
- Enter, review, and process vendor invoices
- Generate and send customer invoices
- Apply and reconcile payments to the appropriate accounts
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up as needed
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records
- Assist with monthly reporting and other bookkeeping tasks
- Communicate with clients and vendors in a professional manner
Qualifications
- Diploma or certificate in Business Administration, Bookkeeping, or Payroll (Community College or equivalent)
- Previous experience in payroll and accounts payable/receivable
- Experience working with clients in the trucking or transportation sector is an asset
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and clients efficiently
