GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Responsible for processing admissions and releases of arrested individuals according to standard operating procedures. Maintain inmate case records, input Corrections computer files and paperwork, run criminal histories, and provide copies of paperwork for the courts and other agencies, answer telephones and general questions from the public and other agencies. Immediate supervisor is the Shift Supervisor.

Personal characteristics required of all employees, such as honesty, industry, sobriety and the ability to get along with others, are presumed qualities and may not be listed specifically.Logs arrestees, processes prisoners' paperwork upon admission including prisoner identification, charge, arresting officer, location of arrest, and any other required information.Enters and retrieves information from the computer system.Processes Corrections computer files and paperwork.Prepares Advisory paperwork.Runs criminal histories.Runs local wanted checks.Maintains inmate files.Processes paperwork on results of Advisory.Processes Advisory releases.Keeps release log.Looks up information for State Attorney and Public Defender's Office.Enters court work information into computer.Processes bond recommittals.Answers telephones.Copies paperwork for the courts, State Attorney's Office, and Classification Unit.Looks up cell locations.Processes release paperwork.Performs related duties as required.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS: Communicate using speech, hearing and vision skills; sit for extended periods of time.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Primarily within the Criminal Justice Facility; forty hour work week, rotating shifts, exposed to dangerous persons and stressful situations.KNOWLEDGE OF: Court proceedings related to prisoner interment and release of confidential information; Florida Bond Schedule and Florida State Statutes; modern office equipment, procedures and practices. ABILITY TO: Understand and communicate the policies and procedures of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office; keep moderately complex records to assemble and organize data; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; follow oral and written instructions; communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; emotional stability, personal integrity and must be physically fit; work shifts; perform different job tasks as necessary by assisting other units of the Corrections Bureau; possess professional and courteous phone etiquette.SKILLS: Type; operate computer.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
CERTIFICATION: May be required to obtain certification in the NCIC/FCIC terminal course within six (6) months of employment/appointment and maintain said certification throughout the course of employment/appointment. ADDITIONAL: Must successfully pass CVSA, drug screening, physical exam, and background investigation. Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays when required.
