Description
GENERAL DESCRIPTION : Responsible for the monitoring and control of security electronics within the Santa Rosa County Jail. Answers telephone and intercom calls and directs calls to appropriate offices.

- Operates control panels and equipment in detention control rooms;
- Coordinates entry and exit into multiple secured areas in normal and emergency conditions;
- Answers telephones and directs calls;
- Monitors audio and video surveillance equipment associated with detention security;
- Answers intercom calls;
- Logs visitors into and out of the facility;
- Monitors and reports inmate behavior which includes foul or profane language and obscene gestures;
- Maintains logs of daily operations;
- Performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS :
Work shift work.
KNOWLEDGE OF : Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office policies and procedures.
ENVIRONMENT : Indoors in heavily secured areas.
ABILITY TO : Speak clearly and distinctly in well modulated pleasant voice using correct grammar and choice of words; react calmly during emergency situations and utilize common sense and interpersonal skills when dealing with excited persons; write detailed and legible reports.
SKILLS : Operate a computer; operate a multi-line telephone, deal effectively with the public.
Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Graduation from high school or GED.
LICENSE : Applicant must have a valid Florida Driver's License at the date of hire and maintain said license while employed in this position.
Supplemental Information
ADDITIONAL : Must successfully pass CVSA, drug screening, physical exam, and background investigation. Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays when required.
