Sante Health System is encouraging all Medical Assistants in the Fresno, CA area to apply to join our team full-time for the Medical Assistant Front Office position. This position is responsible for supporting and monitoring patient flow in the front and back office as needed and the delivering of primary health care and patient care management. This position will also assist with billing duties.

REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma/GED equivalent required.
- Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required.
- Minimum 1 year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
- Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
- Experience with electronic health records and scheduling preferred.
- Bi-lingual Spanish an added bonus.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of business office procedures.
- Knowledge of managed care products such as HMO's and PPO's.
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type patient information.
- Skill in operating a computer and photocopy machine.
- Skill in greeting patients and answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
- Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to sort and file materials correctly and in alphabetical or numeric systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares the office each day by ensuring the reception area is clean and tidy. Replenishes drinks and snacks in lobby for patients. Adjusts TV/temperature in the patient waiting area to ensure a relaxing, comfortable atmosphere.
- Maintains work area and lobby in a neat and orderly manner.
- Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
- Checks-in patients and verifies and updates necessary information in the medical record. Assists patients with ambulatory difficulties.
- Follows office scheduling policies.
- Answers the telephone, screens calls, takes messages and provides necessary information to the callers.
- Routinely call to follow-up on all no-show patients for rescheduling.
- Screens visitors and responds to routine requests for information.
- Verifies eligibility at least one day ahead of time, except on the first of each month.
- Completes and prepares all encounter forms one day ahead of time.
- Routinely checks and responds to patients in a professional manner on the reminder service website/software.
- Prepares daily batching for the business office and biller and prepares accurate bank deposits on a daily basis.
- Relay provider communications to patients by phone or mail.
- May preform selected ancillary duties, such as referrals and authorizations.
- Maintain patient files, records and other information.
- Attend required meetings and participates in professional development activities.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Follow all MA competencies.
- Back-up to back office duties as needed.
