Sante Health System is seeking an exceptional Medical Assistant to join our team in Fresno, CA at one of our busy medical sites, Valley Sleep and Wellness Center (VSWC). This role is responsible for assisting in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management as well as assisting with non-back office duties two days a week.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma/GED equivalent.
- Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants.
- Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care.
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications as directed.
- Skill in taking vital signs.
- Skill in maintaining records and recording test results.
- Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards including, but not limited to confidentiality.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
- Checks-in patients and verifies and updates necessary information in the medical record. Assists patients with ambulatory difficulties.
- Schedules appointments as needed and follows office scheduling policies.
- Answers the telephone, screens calls, takes messages and provides necessary information to the callers.
- Screens visitors and responds to routine requests for information.
- Maintains work area and lobby in a neat and orderly manner.
- Obtains prior authorizations for medications and sleep studies.
- Prepare patients for examination and takes patient vital signs.
- Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
- Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.
- Maintains patient files, records, and other information in both the Practice Management and Electronic Medical Record system(s).
- Administers injections and conducts in-office testing as directed by providers.
- Assists providers with medical treatments, procedures, and exams.
- Calls in prescriptions to pharmacies.
- Checks out patients, assists with referrals and arranges in-office or at home sleep studies.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
- Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Follows all MA competencies.
- Interprets for providers and office staff and Spanish speaking patients as needed.
- In the spirit of teamwork, employees are expected to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties as requested.
