Position Overview: As a General Manager, you will oversee the overall sales growth and profitability of a specific department within our location. Reporting to the President of Travel Center, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining operational excellence and driving our team towards success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews and select top talent to build a high-performing team.
- Lead weekly staff meetings and inspire sales associates to achieve targets.
- Investigate and resolve cash shortages and inventory discrepancies.
- Mentor and coach direct reports to effectively address operational challenges.
- Ensure compliance with company recruitment processes and protocols.
- Monitor and reconcile gasoline sales and other financial transactions.
- Maintain an updated schedule and approve vacation requests.
- Attend safety and department head meetings to uphold safety standards.
- Oversee facility cleanliness through regular inspections and vendor interactions.
- Manage capital improvement budgets and set ambitious sales goals.
- Analyze repair and maintenance costs to optimize profitability.
- Collaborate across departments to understand operational issues and ensure deadlines are met.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent required. Preferred qualifications include an associate's or bachelor's degree in business administration, hospitality management, or a related field.
- Previous experience in general management within retail or restaurant settings.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage large teams and facilities.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and other relevant software.
- Ability to make quick, decisive decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
