Job Description
Scheduling Clerks are responsible for supporting the clerical/ administrative aspects of the clinical care delivery, and coordination of patient care area services through appropriate communication, knowledge of patient care activity, and recognition of specific needs.
Responsibilities
Acts as a productive/professional member of the patient care team., Changes outpatients, observation, and inpatient admission statuses as assigned., Collects payment at the time of service., Completed data entry and charges for all surgical patients. Completes work orders to maintenance as necessary. Assembles charts for all surgical services patients., Demonstrates appropriate customer service behaviors as exemplified by a positive attitude and a willingness to facilitate care team functioning., Develops and implements a mechanism to schedule and verify patients' discharge appointments., Escorts, walks, wheels all patients to appropriate room or department after registration / admission., Follow-up on patients with unsigned Conditions of Admissions and/or other documents needing signatures or completion., Maintains a safe and neat work environment., Maintains physician "order" file. Scans pertinent documents into the EMR. Types surgical consents. Verifies providers orders with surgical schedule. Coordinates with provider offices to obtain necessary medical records necessary for surgery., Monitors waiting room for an appropriate and timely flow of patients needing to be registered or admitted., Obtains correct patient demographic information and insurance benefits for the Health Center and physicians., Performs all duties needed to open / close registration offices., Performs computer based functions including admission, discharge, and processes patient charges when appropriate. Schedules procedures and inputs patient charges., Pre-register and/or pre-admit pre-op patients for 1-2 days before surgery., Promotes awareness and enrollment in Financial Assistance, Advantage 50, and all other hospital programs as applicable., Provides clerical support in the timely delivery of patient care., Registers patients receiving outpatient services at the Surgery Center., Responsible for cleanliness and tidiness of registration waiting area., Responsible for electronic verification of insurance coverage., Serves as a customer service representative, receptionist, and acts as a liaison among patient, family, staff, and medical staff., Serves as the area receptionist by answering phones, dept. intercoms, taking messages, and referring questions and answers to the appropriate individual. Provides clerical support in the timely delivery of patient care., Tracks and monitors the location of all patients, and facilitates the movement of the patient from one care modality to the next.
