POSITION TITLE: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
Valid Alabama certification in administration, supervision, or educational leadership
Minimum of three years of successful experience in public education
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively collaborate with students, faculty, staff, parents, and the community
Ability to effectively lead, delegate, and oversee personnel to assess faculty and staff, offer constructive feedback, and foster professional growth.
Ability to collaboratively plan with faculty, staff, and district leadership to drive school improvement and student achievement
Proficiency in technology for communication, presentations, research, data analysis, budgeting, record keeping, reporting, and scheduling
Knowledge of educational trends, curriculum development, classroom instruction, school supervision, and staff development
Understanding of special education laws, policies, and procedures
Familiarity with Board policies, procedures, and safety regulations
Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership & School Mission
Embrace and promote the school system’s mission, vision, beliefs, and goals
Lead in a manner that maximizes educational benefits for all students
Provide leadership in school improvement efforts, including accreditation, accountability reports, and school improvement plans
Assist in communicating and clarifying the school’s mission to students, staff, and the community
School Operations & Administration
Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies
Participate in the efficient and effective operation of the school, including attending meetings, fulfilling assigned duties, and serving on committees
Assist in supervising personnel, scheduling classes, and assigning duties
Support the principal in securing, maintaining, and managing material resources
Assist in preparing and administering the school budget and supervising school finances
Maintain accurate records as required by law, Board policy, and administrative regulations
Student Services & School Environment
Ensure students receive appropriate placement and services
Take necessary precautions to protect students and safeguard equipment, materials, and facilities
Promote a safe and orderly school environment conducive to learning by upholding the student code of conduct
Respond to emergencies involving students, staff, or school facilities
Maintain high visibility within the school to support student supervision and engagement
Professional Conduct & Collaboration
Maintain a professional, cooperative working relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and the community
Promote positive public relations for the school and district
Adhere to the Alabama Educator Code of Ethics as a guide for professional behavior
Maintain confidentiality regarding school business
Accept no employment that interferes with fulfilling assigned responsibilities
Instructional Support & Staff Development
Provide effective leadership and collaborate with staff in planning and supervising school activities
Assist in supervising, observing, and evaluating teachers and staff
Support professional growth opportunities for staff to enhance instructional effectiveness
Demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communication
Seek assistance from specialists and make referrals as needed
Technology Integration
Model innovative and appropriate use of technology for faculty, staff, and students
Facilitate and monitor technology integration in the classroom
Other Duties
Attend regularly and punctually, following procedures for recording attendance
Demonstrate initiative in performing other job-related responsibilities as assigned by the principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine (9), Ten (10), Twelve (12) month contract or as otherwise approved by Board
EVALUATION: Performance evaluated in accordance with Board policy
SALARY: Board approved salary schedule
