Job Description
The investigative aides duties include, but are not limited to, organize, and conduct criminal investigative reports/investigations. Gather and analyze surveillance footage and financial documents. Prepare and submit subpoenas. Utilize a wide spectrum of investigative databases to identify stolen property, IP addresses, telephone accounts, and social media activity. Retrieve information on suspects, victims, and witnesses. Collect and submit evidence. Maintain daily activity sheets, prepare photo line-ups, and complete investigative reports. Testify in court proceedings. Interact with victims, witnesses, attorneys, other agency members, and detectives daily. Obtain and disseminate sensitive information and maintain knowledge of Florida state statues and current legal guidelines.
General Description of Duties
Tasks: Complete assignment as directed; maintain work areas; participate in meetings/training/community relations activities; knowledge of general orders; organize intelligence reports; conduct computer inquiries; trace bureau reports; communicate with victims/suspects/other agencies re; investigations; retrieve and disseminate information for bureau detectives/agency personnel; conduct missing persons follow-up investigations; conduct priority 2 follow-up investigations; attempt to locate; utilize various internet search engines; research driver license name and photos; attempt to locate utilization; utilize Mugsearch program; verify child locator program; select photo line ups; connect suspect to evidence/crime scene/criminal activity; reconstruct chain of events of crime; develop information sources; review case documentation/reports; make initial contact with victim; produce wanted/missing flyers; respond to diversion crimes; operate NCIC/FCIC computer; generate reports; prepare daily record of law enforcement activities; provide assistance to the public; answer subpoenas; disseminate crime prevention and public safety literature and information; and liaison with inter/intra agency personnel.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office requires all employees to have either an associates degree, 60 equivalent hours from an accredited college or university or the Wonderlic Basic Skills Test. The Wonderlic Basic Skills Test measures verbal and quantitative skills. Sworn *Law Enforcement and Corrections Deputies must achieve a minimum passing score of Verbal - 267 and Quantitative - 241. Civilians must achieve a minimum passing score of Verbal - 248 and Quantitative - 241.
If you are out of town, please contact your local technical institute. A complete report of passing scores must be submitted directly to the SCSO.
