Required Qualifications
Registration Representative I:
The Patient Registration Representative is responsible for assisting the patient through the registration process while introducing the
patient to the facility in a manner designed to reduce patient anxiety and works with other departments, and serves as a liaison for patients,
family of patients, hospital management, and staff to ensure patient satisfaction, experience, and quality of services are maintained and
improved upon when possible.
Insurance Verification Representative I
Responsible for obtaining accurate health insurance benefits verification of eligibility status and assist with authorizations using electronic
verification systems or by contacting payers directly to determine level of insurance coverage. Ensures the pre-registration process is
complete for all assigned accounts at least 7 days prior to the scheduled date of service whenever possible. Identifies copayments,
coinsurance, and policy limitations, and advises patient and collects amount before the time of service. Follows up on missing
authorizations. If authorization is not obtained within 48-hours prior to service, contacts patient to advise them of their options for
rescheduling/follow-up with physician's office or proceeding without authorization.
Patient Registration/Medical Records Specialist
The Patient Registration Representative/Medical Records Specialist is responsible for assisting the patient through the registration process
while introducing the patient to the facility in a manner designed to reduce patient anxiety and works with other departments, and serves as
a liaison for patients, family of patients, hospital management, and staff to ensure patient satisfaction, experience, and quality of services
are maintained and improved upon when possible. The Specialist is also responsible for assisting with the processing of health information
to include, but not limited to, the assembly of analysis, release of information and processing of medical records.
Scheduler I
Professionally interviews and schedules patients for outpatient service including preregistration. Coordinates patient schedules to
maximize patient and physician satisfaction institution-wide. Communicates patient instructions and directions, physician order requirement,
authorization/pre-certification/referral requirement to patients, physician office staff, and other SMHCS personnel. Maintains scheduling and
pre-registration accuracy rate per department standards. Creates estimate for patient financial responsibility and collects co-insurance, co
payment, and deductible as indicated. Initiates process to assure the patient meets the hospital financial policies/guidelines for services to
be rendered and transfers to appropriate departments for more complex situations.

Required Qualifications
Registration Representative I:
The Patient Registration Representative is responsible for assisting the patient through the registration process while introducing the
patient to the facility in a manner designed to reduce patient anxiety and works with other departments, and serves as a liaison for patients,
family of patients, hospital management, and staff to ensure patient satisfaction, experience, and quality of services are maintained and
improved upon when possible.
- Require a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a health care and/or customer service related industry.
- Require flexibility for weekend, holiday, and other shift work as scheduled.
- Require High School Diploma, GED or Certificate
Insurance Verification Representative I
