Job Summary
This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with clinical research billing by analyzing and conducting comprehensive reviews of research billing charges and overseeing the accurate accounting of revenues and expenses related to the execution of sponsored clinical trials. The analyst will work closely with the research team, revenue cycle team, clinical staff, and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate billing, accounting, and analysis procedures. This role is responsible for accurate and complete clinical research billing, ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations, managing accounts receivable and payable, analyzing research revenue cycle process/accuracies, and ensuring accurate financial records are maintained. This role will work with research and revenue cycle leadership to analyze current processes and seek improvements to promote best practices related to research revenue integrity compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Require a bachelor’s degree, or an associate degree and two (2) additional years of relevant healthcare-related experience can be considered in lieu of bachelor's level requirement.
- Require a minimum of three (3) years of relevant healthcare-related experience in areas such as billing, insurance, clinical research, and/or other relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer knowledge of CMS, federal and state regulatory billing requirements for research billing.
- Prefer proficiency in billing systems, clinical trial management system software, electronic health record (EHR) software, and financial management software.
- Prefer demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication.
- Prefer demonstrated ability to relate well to others in a variety of functional areas, manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously and to problem-solve and think both creatively and analytically.
- Prefer coding certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) or related certification.
- Prefer demonstrated proficiency in project and time management skills with the ability to prioritize or re-prioritize duties.
- Prefer demonstrated high level computer skills, including spreadsheet software, database tables and reporting, and various Microsoft applications.
