Job Summary
We seek a Manager for our multi-modal (water/rail/truck) transportation solutions company. We handle several types of bulk materials and service multiple industries. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of multiple business facets. He/she will help with creating an outstanding customer experience, monitoring operational costs, working with a wonderful team of drivers and coworkers, and making critical business decisions. The role requires a strong background in general business knowledge, logistics, accounting/statistics and transportation planning. While we seek experience, we are willing to train a candidate with strong college scores and minimal experience. We seek a long term employee who intends to live and thrive in Mid-Michigan..
Duties
- Monitor financial statistics for all business activities, identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
- Support company Mission by adhering to SOP's
- Work to reduce problems and manage problems that arise.
- Participate in driver hiring, reviews, and working to balance dispatch fairly.
- Monitor performance metrics to identify areas for improvement within the transport operations.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align logistics operations with overall business objectives.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and standards related to safety, licensing and other legalities.
- Develop and implement strategies for cost reduction while maintaining service quality.
Requirements
- Bachelors of Science in a Business related degree with emphasis on logistics
- Experience in logistics management or a related field
- Strong knowledge of management principles and practices.
- A positive, team building attitude and willingness to do new things.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaboration across departments.
