What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Assistant Manager/Admin – Sargent’s on 2nd position at Sargent's?
This position requires flexibility and a strong desire for accuracy. The store has two assistant managers; One for leading all operations of the store and leading all employees efficiently and the second being the position described here. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Cashier Manager:
- The management of cashiering and money handling. In many ways, this is the most important thing we do at each store as it is where our products are monetized. Maintaining at least 99.5% accuracy in this process while ensuring an efficient and pleasant customer experience is essential.
- Maintain a clean and organized cash wrap.
- Train cashiers in all areas including – cashiering, phone etiquette, customer complaints, etc.
- Offer high levels of customer service by routinely engaging customers and being an authority in the handling of complex customer service issues.
Receiving/Data Entry Admin:
- Enter purchase orders and receivers in a timely manner and according to the correct processes.
- Lead the physical count process and follow correct processes.
- Adjust inventory that is no longer saleable in a timely manner.
- Create pricing stickers for all products that require it before the inventory arrives at the store, allowing the inventory to be immediately priced and put on the sales floor.
- Create and oversee all signage for the store, including sale price promotions.
- Available for backup in the store while in the office, as well as answering Garden Center phone calls from the office.
This position has a high degree of flexibility between in-store and back-office work. In all cases, customer experience is the top priority. Factors that will determine success in this position include:
- A customer-centric attitude with strong customer service and conflict resolution skills focused on providing solutions when faced with challenges
- A high degree of accuracy with realistic expectations.
- An attitude of supporting the store manager in the office while leading the cashiering team.
- Flexibility within the course of a day, as well as during the seasonal highs and lows.
- A high degree of cooperation with the retail management team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize.
- An ideal candidate has one or more of the following: 4 years supervisory experience, minimum 2 years cashiering/retail experience, minimum 2 years administrative experience.

Benefits:
Pay range $19.96 – 26.27 per hour.
Full-time, year-round position.
