Job Title: Director/Production Technician

Location: WRCB- Local 3 News

Reports To: Technical Director/Production Manager

Job Summary: The purpose of the Director/Production Technician’s position is to direct creative, effective and error-free news programs, public affairs programming, entertainment shows, special projects programming, updates and topicals. High quality error-free newscasts are an essential element in increasing viewership of News, enabling WRCB to meet its marketing goals. Running Audio, Chyron graphic computer, Studio Cameras and other studio equipment such as hanging and adjusting studio lights and operating the ETC lighting console are all part of the Production Technician’s duties.

Key Responsibilities:

· To give WRCB newscasts that are technically error-free and have high production value

· To direct special community service projects for WRCB

· To maintain and operate our news control room equipment

· As a director during newscasts and other shows you must supervise the production crew while live on the air

· Direct newscasts

· Special project programming

· Running camera, CG, making graphics, audio, teleprompter, and other jobs deemed necessary by WRCB

· Maintain relationships with: audio operators, camera operators, teleprompter operators, graphic operators, master control operators

Qualifications:

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Technology, Video Production, or a related field (preferred)

· High School education (required)

· 2-4 years of experience in television production or broadcast technology.

· Hands-on experience with studio and field production equipment, including cameras, lighting, and audio systems.

· Proficiency in operating broadcast equipment, including cameras, switchers, audio mixers, and lighting systems.

· Strong understanding of video and audio signal flow, broadcast standards, and technical troubleshooting.

· Familiarity with editing software and post-production workflows is a plus.

· Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality technical work.

• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, as well as perform tasks that may require bending, kneeling, or climbing.

NOTE: The News Department functions 24/7 and this position can require long hours, unplanned interruptions at odd hours and could involve weekend and occasional holiday work requirements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.50 - $17.50 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
