Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Piping Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and integration of piping systems for our autonomous surface vessels. As a Piping Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the design, fabrication, and installation of piping systems meet the highest standards of functionality, safety, and reliability.
\n- Design and develop piping systems for the autonomous surface vessels, including fluid transfer, cooling, fuel, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform system layout, hydraulic analysis, and ensure compliance with DoD specifications and industry standards.
- Apply knowledge of thermal, mechanical, and structural design principles to optimize piping systems for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and naval architecture teams to integrate piping systems into the overall vessel design.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to provide technical guidance during fabrication, assembly, and installation of piping systems.
- Ensure seamless integration with other vessel systems and provide technical support during system commissioning and testing.
- Ensure all piping designs meet relevant safety standards, regulations, and performance specifications, particularly those set by the DoD.
- Conduct thorough reviews and validation of designs and systems to minimize risks and ensure long-term reliability.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including design calculations, system diagrams, and testing procedures.
- Identify and resolve any design, installation, or performance issues related to piping systems.
- Support troubleshooting during testing and post-deployment to ensure system performance meets expectations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in piping design, preferably within the defense, marine, or aerospace industries.
- Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) for piping and system design.
- Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermal systems, and mechanical design principles related to piping.
- Familiarity with DoD and military specifications (e.g., MIL-STD, MIL-SPEC).
- Experience with system-level integration and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API, ABS, DNV GL)
