POSITION TITLE: BENEFITS SPECIALIST
Job Summary:
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for managing and administering the organization’s health, welfare, and retirement benefits programs. This role includes ensuring accurate benefits administration, responding to employee inquiries, and supporting the annual open enrollment process. The Benefits Specialist is essential to maintaining compliance with benefits regulations and ensuring that employees receive prompt and accurate benefits support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer health and welfare benefits, including maintaining benefit records and processing vendor payments.
- Support the retirement plan by processing 401(k) transactions and addressing employee inquiries.
- Assist with benefits communication, preparing reports, and supporting compliance activities such as non-discrimination testing.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business preferred.
- Minimum three years of experience in health and welfare benefits administration.
- Experience with 401(k) or retirement benefits administration is preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, and Word required.
- Experience using HRM systems such as PeopleSoft, Dayforce, Oracle Financials preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong communication and customer service skills to effectively address employee inquiries.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage benefits records and payments accurately.
- Ability to work with HR software and generate reports for compliance and decision-making purposes.
- Problem-solving and teamwork skills to collaborate with brokers, vendors, and internal departments.
Additional Desired Characteristics:
- Ability to work independently on ad hoc projects.
- Experience participating in benefit surveys and handling benefits-related audits is beneficial.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
