The Global Performance and Sizing team is responsible for evaluating the performance of SAS products translating into customer facing deliverables and service levels. The performance aspect of the team is tasked with evaluating performance by designing and executing automated test suites at customer scale for a given SAS product. Outputs include performance briefs, 2-to-3-page papers summarizing performance and system metrics and best practices for optimizing performance of SAS products.
Downstream of performance is hardware sizings. To deploy SAS products, SAS customers and 3rd party integrators need to know the computing capacity required to efficiently/performantly run SAS products be it on-premise or in-cloud environments. Performance ‘benchmarks’ provide quantitative data points (to sizing) which are used in the design of sizing algorithms and sizing guidelines.
Customer ‘sizing’ requests are workload specific queries from customers (via presales teams) seeking SAS guidance on hardware capacity planning. Sizings are unique to each customer/product/solution and based on workload dynamics including input data sizes, user concurrency, processing requirements etc. Each sizing request (over 3000 in 2024) gets evaluated by sizing team for which a custom hardware sizing (e.g., nodes, cores, memory, storage, etc.) is created and shared with presales teams to review and interpret with SAS customers.
The Global Performance and Sizing team is a hardware/performance centric team… if you love computing at its core, this is the team for you!
