innovative interventions aimed at ending youth homelessness in the DC region. Today,

the programs in DC and Prince George’s County, MD, reach over 6,500 runaway,

homeless, abused, and neglected youth, and their families.

Job Summary:


Sasha Bruce Youthwork (SBY) is seeking a Chief of Staff to serve as a strategic

partner to the senior leadership team, ensuring operational excellence, organizational

efficiency, and cross-functional collaboration. This role is critical in overseeing

operational management, strategic planning, and process improvements to support the

organization's mission of empowering youth and families.


The Chief of Staff will be responsible for leading key organizational initiatives,

managing facilities and IT infrastructure, optimizing administrative processes, and

ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be

a highly organized, proactive leader with strong project management and problem-

solving skills.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Management

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director, ensuring smooth execution of strategic initiatives and organizational priorities.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across departments to drive efficiency and operational effectiveness.
  • Oversee policy development, process improvements, and administrative procedures to enhance organizational performance.
  • Manage special projects and provide strategic support to executive leadership.


Operations Management

  • Oversee facilities management for multiple locations, ensuring buildings are maintained, secure, and operational.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across all sites.
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships for building services, including cleaning, landscaping, and repairs.
  • Implement an effective system for facility maintenance, working with outsourced management companies to address maintenance issues promptly.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure all facilities remain in compliance with codes, licenses, and permits.
  • Guide and assist in procurement of equipment, supplies, and furniture, ensuring cost-effective purchasing.
  • Oversee fleet management, ensuring proper vehicle maintenance and staff training on safety policies.


Technology & IT Oversight

  • Partner with the third-party IT service provider to evaluate and enhance the agency’s IT infrastructure for security and efficiency.
  • Ensure timely technical support to maintain smooth operations.
  • Identify opportunities for digital transformation and process automation to streamline workflows.
  • Oversee technology for the agency


Administrative & Staff Support

  • Develop systems to reduce administrative burdens on staff, particularly those providing direct services.
  • Act as a liaison between departments, fostering collaboration and alignment across teams.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related discipline a plus
  • 8 years of related experience with a minimum of 3 years experience in a leadership or management role, preferably in a non-profit setting.
  • Exceptional financial analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using a personal computer, including knowledge and skill in the use of the Windows operating system and pertinent software applications such as:

o Microsoft Excel

o Microsoft Word

o Adobe

  • Excellent written, verbal, and customer service skills communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, adept at efficient multi-tasking while maintaining a high-quality work product.
  • Proven experience managing facilities, IT services, vendor contracts, and compliance regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present data
  • Ability to develop and implement systems to improve efficiency and operational effectiveness.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and developing teams.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for the mission and values of the organization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
