What are the responsibilities and job description for the Admission Clerk position at Satanta District Hospital?
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Nursing and/or County Health Administrator, the Clerk is a non-exempt position under the FLSA. The employee in this position is responsible for assisting and directing clients to the appropriate clinical service and to maintain all medical records for Satanta District Hospital, the employee in this position should possess effective communication, organizational, and public relation skills.
Essential Functions:
- Answers the Telephone and fields questions, concerns, and complaints from the general public
- Responsible for preparing charts for clients
- Translates for nurses, doctors, and clients (if applicable)
- Performs general clerical duties including typing, filing, delivering mail, data, entry, and photocopying
- Maintains appointment schedule
- Performs bookkeeping duties including accounts receivable and completing revenue cycle
- Responsible for securing offices and equipment at the close of each day
- Follows department policies and procedures
- Follows safely procedures and practices
Marginal Functions:
- Responsible for mailing Medical Release Forms and documents
- Responsible for restocking supplies
- Performs other duties as deemed necessary or assigned
Experience: One to Three years of similar or related experience is preferred. Employees are expected to have acquired the necessary and skill to perform the job reasonably well within six months of employment.
Education: A high school diploma or GED and a valid Driver's license is required.
Technical Skills: A working knowledge of Spanish and English languages for translation purposes (if bilingual), general office practices, computers, and mathematics is required This employee must be able to operate computers, copiers, telephones, calculators, typewriters, and other office equipment. To understand and anticipate problems, to understand written instructions, reports, and manuals are required. This employee should possess effective public relations, organizational, oral and written communication skills.
Problem Solving: Some problem solving is involved in this position. This employee encounters problems with citizen complaints and concerns, scheduling conflicts, and incorrect translation.
Decision Making: Some decision making is a factor in this position This employee makes decisions about resolving citizen concerns and complaints, prioritizing daily assignments, and performing daily duties in the most efficient manner.
Supervision: This employee reports to the Director of Clinical Nursing or her designee but does not have supervisory responsibilities over subordinate personnel.
Financial Accountability: This employee is responsible for departmental resources but does not participate in the annual budget process. This employee balances the money drawer at the end of each day.
Personal Relations: Daily contact with the general public, co-workers, and supervisory personnel is expected.
Working Conditions: No adverse working conditions exist within this position. Working in an office/clinic setting with a computer is the primary aspect of this position.
Physical Requirements: Physical activity associated with working in an office/clinic setting is the primary aspect of this position. Some manual labor including walking, lifting, bending, and climbing can be expected
Accountability: Employees follow guidelines of the various programs and department policies and procedures.
