We are seeking a motivated Associate Scientist – Technical Development to join our Analytical Assay Development/ Process Development team. In this role you will contribute to the company’s platform technology of engineered satellite tissues. Specifically, you will be part of our cross-functional team working with multiple cell types used in the assembly of these satellite tissues. You will contribute to scale-up of the cell culture processes, perform in vitro assays and analytics, and contribute to analytical development to advance our lead research and development programs. This will involve a wide range of cutting-edge technologies and a high degree of technical rigor and creativity.
This role is a unique opportunity to join an early-stage, well-funded Biotech startup. You will report directly to our Associate Director – Process Development. This position is full-time with laboratory time being on-site at our facilities located in Newton, MA.
Responsibilities:
● Perform culture, manipulation, and cryopreservation of human cells.
● Provide technical excellence across multiple analytical methods (e.g., flow cytometry, ELISA/MSD, cell-based functional assays, imaging-based assays etc.).
● Contribute to designing, developing, and qualifying cell-based analytical methods for various Drug Substances and Drug Products in a hands-on manner.
● Maintain a clear, detailed electronic laboratory notebook to document all experiments and findings.
● Contribute to technical operations practice through authorship of methods documents (i.e., standard operating procedures), execution of batch records, and review of protocols and reports.
● Plan logistics of execution, including the timing and staffing, for process development studies.
● Present results at project team and department meetings.
● Contribute to regulatory submission documents, internal document preparation, and scientific publications.
● Support lab operations including inventory management, safety initiatives, and maintenance of instruments.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
● BS or MS degree in a biological science or engineering discipline with at least 3 years of professional experience. Laboratory experience required.
● Experience with mammalian cell/tissue culture and sterile technique required.
● Experience with cell or molecular biology technique(s) including qPCR required.
● Experience with ELISA, and/or biochemical assays preferred.
● Strong documentation skills and attention to detail required
● Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, time-management, and organizational skills are required.
