Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Shop Assistant Manager / Assistant Fleet Manager. This dual-role position will support the daily operations of our shop while assisting with the management and maintenance of our vehicle fleet. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a background in Plumbing/Pipe Fitting.
Shop Assistant Manager Duties:
- Assist the Shop Manager in overseeing daily operations, including asset management, and staff coordination.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Count, sort, and store Plumbing/Pipe Material for large jobs.
- Handle tool requests, inspect tools to ensure they are working properly, digitally complete transfers on an Asset Management Platform.
Assistant Fleet Manager Duties:
- Support the Fleet Manager and Mechanic in coordinating the maintenance, repair, and scheduling of company vehicles.
- Assist in tracking trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
- Assist in tracking vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance records using digital platforms.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers for repairs, fuel, and other fleet-related services.
- Help implement safety and preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in shop management, fleet operations, plumbing supply house sales, or a similar role.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or experience with vehicle maintenance is a plus.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and with fleet management software is an advantage.
- Valid driver’s license required; experience with DOT regulations is a bonus.
- The ability to lift up to 50lbs and work in various weather conditions as needed.
- Must be able to drive a forklift/telehandler.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge and understanding of Plumbing/Pipe Fitting.
- Understanding of OSHA and fleet-specific safety standards.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.51 - $15.78 per hour
